Photo of sampling activity. The contamination at Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant (RVAAP) originated from past production of munitions and the demilitarization of these munitions. Production at Ravenna took place in 12 areas known as load lines. The activities at these load lines resulted in releases to soils, ditches, and ponds around the load lines buildings. Other contamination sites include landfills, testing facilities, dumps, burial sites, a pistol range, storage facilities, a scrap yard, and decontamination buildings. The load lines and other sites are identified as areas of potential contamination. There are 51 areas of potential contamination at RVAAP.

Although not present at every one of these areas, the contaminants may include primary and secondary explosives, propellants, heavy metals, volatile and semi-volatile organics, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and pesticides.

Click on the area number on the map below to link to a description of the area from the Installation Action Plan in PDF format. This information about each area of potential contamination may also be accessed from the table at the bottom of the Cleanup Program web page.
